The Roly Poly Roadtrip continues! 

 

Before he arrived in Jackson, Mississippi a couple of weeks ago, Dr. Pickard had already checked out the location for the Roly Poly Restaurant in that city.  Using his superior sense of direction [and MapQuest], he easily located his favorite restaurant.

Grinning in anticipation of his lunch, Dr. P is looking rather sporty, don’t you think?  He’ll be searching for a new five star lunch as he tries some of the "hottie" roll-ups he has yet to rate.  He is happy even though wife Mary Ann forgot to pack the Roly Poly rating sheets and all of his menus [and even the dress clothes-What a trip!]

We all know that Dr. P, quirky as he is, is definitely “one of a kind”.  To celebrate that individuality, daughter Jenny made him a unique t-shirt for Father’s Day.  On the front is the classic Roly Poly logo [available from the Roly Poly Store], but on the back…

…is Dr. P’s new nickname, “The Roly Poly-Nator” and the phrase, “I’ll be back!”  Here he is pictured with store manager Audra [left] and her assistant, Stephanie.  Apparently they had never met a “Roly Poly-Nator’ before-or for that matter anyone quite as "quirky" as Dr. P!

 

Dr. P. is so hooked and "quirky" that Mary Ann has to keep him supplied with "imitation" Roly Polys at home.  Try this Roly Poly Wanna Be “Toasted Tuna Delight” recipe and let us know what you think!

The beauty of the Roly Poly-Nator shirt is that each time Dr. P visits a Roly Poly restaurant, the manager signs that store number, his/her name and the date on the back.  Watch for other features this summer from Tampa, FL [July 5-10], New Orleans [July 15 and 16], LA and Minneapolis, MN [August 18-20]!  This little shirt should become quite the collector’s item!

Lunch was quite the adventure and a new five star Roly Poly was discovered: the Texas Tuna Melt!  Mmmmm…tuna, avocado, barbecue sauce, onion, pepper jack cheese, bacon…what’s not to like?  And, if anyone is counting, a half sandwich on whole wheat tortilla is 6 Weight Watchers points.
