Dr. Scott Stephens

 

The Fayetteville Team is happy to have Dr. Scott Stephens, formerly on the Fort Smith Team, join them this year. Dr. Stephens grew up in Benton, Arkansas where he was valedictorian of his high school graduating class. He continued his education at Hendrix University in Conway and earned a degree in arts and biology.
 
After acceptance to the University of Tennessee Dental School in Memphis, Dr. Stephens plunged into what he described as the perfect profession for him - one that “melded art and science” since he had a strong interest in both of those fields. Dentistry enabled him to help people as well, and that was another strong consideration in his career choice.
 
Upon completing his D.D.S. requirements, Dr. Stephens moved to Browning, Montana to work for Indian Health Services [the Blackfeet Tribe.] In the three and a half years he worked for them, he gained the experience necessary to realize his dream--return to Arkansas and establish his own practice. He currently has a private dental practice in a beautiful new Fayetteville office.

 

 

 

Dr. Stephens is an appliance technician / general dentist. This is a collaborative position for which he is well suited because of his excellent education at one of the premier dental schools in the country and his experience with all ages and situations at the Indian Health Dental Clinic. He works with Dr. Grewal’s patients when they need major placements, renovations and repair to their braces.

 
As a young man, Dr. Stephens wore braces and his experience was a good one:. “I was so happy when my orthodontist told me I needed them,” he says. Helping orthodontic patients and the team feel better about themselves is a satisfying part of his professional life. “We are all committed to giving you the happy, healthy smile that you want and deserve,” he adds.

 

This year, Dr. Stephens and his wife, Leslie, celebrate three years of marriage. Currently, it is the two of them at home – with three cats! [two were rescued last year.] Dr. Stephens is passionate about his wife, his cats and movies…especially horror movies! His home theatre is a place of relaxation for him, although he really could use a new set of speakers! He also enjoys reading, listening to music and collecting movie memorabilia, skiing, snowboarding and fishing.
 
You might think that joining our team on a part time basis would be stressful, but Dr. Stephens says that it really is not. In his words, he “gets to experience a different type of dentistry and a different type of patient [young people] with no needles or blood!” He likes the fast pace and says it’s a good pace that lets him see a lot of patients without feeling rushed.
 
Although Arkansas doesn’t offer the same skiing that he enjoyed living at the edge of Glacier National Park, he can continue hiking, biking and fishing here – without eight-month-long winters! We are certain you’ll enjoy getting to know him in our Fayetteville office, where he is totally at home!
